Solutions
Engineering across the full energy stack.
Five service lines, one accountable team. Each is designed around your load, tariff and site, and delivered from assessment through to operations.
Solar PV (EPC)
Your tariff keeps rising. Your roof is idle.
Grid electricity is one of the largest controllable costs for a commercial or industrial site, and every year of delay is another year at the full tariff. Meanwhile rooftops, carports and open ground that could generate power sit unused.
RGE engineering approach
We start from your load, not from a panel count. Bills and, where available, interval data set the target; roof condition, structure and shading set the limits; the design then balances the two so the system is sized to what the site actually uses.
Scope
- Rooftop, carport and ground-mount systems
- Grid-tied and hybrid designs
- Structural checks on roofs and mounting
- Protection, earthing and metering design
- Grid-connection and licensing route handled by RGE

- Bill of materials and procurement schedule
- Commissioning report and as-built documents
Battery Energy Storage (BESS)
Peak demand and outages cost more than the units you buy.
Demand charges, short outages and generator running time add cost that never shows in the per-unit tariff. A single interruption can stop production, spoil stock or cost a day of trading.
RGE engineering approach
We size storage from your load profile, not from a rule of thumb. The same analysis tells us whether the main job is peak shaving, backup, solar shifting or a mix, and the battery, power electronics and controls are chosen for that job.
Scope
- Peak shaving, backup and solar shifting
- Sizing from interval load data
- Battery chemistry, safety and thermal design
- Integration with existing generators
- Controls that coordinate solar, grid and storage
Technology & standards
Technology
- Battery chemistry selected for duty cycle, safety and site conditions
- Power conversion and energy management that coordinate solar, grid, generator and storage
- Thermal management and enclosure design suited to Kenyan site conditions
Standards
- Battery safety, fire and thermal risk reviewed as part of the design, not after it
- Equipment specified to recognised IEC product and safety standards
- Installation and commissioning under the project HSE plan
Deliverables
- Load analysis and storage sizing summary
- Engineering design pack covering protection and thermal design
- Commercial proposal with savings model
- Commissioning report and as-built documents
- Monthly performance report
EV Charging Infrastructure
Your fleet is going electric. Your site has to keep up.
Electric vehicles add a large, concentrated load. Charged carelessly, a depot can push up peak demand, trip protection or outgrow the connection the site already has.
RGE engineering approach
We work out how many vehicles need charging, when and how fast, then fit that duty cycle inside the site’s available capacity. Load management keeps charging from spiking demand, and solar and storage are added where they make the economics work.
Scope
- AC and DC chargers for depot and destination sites
- Load management that keeps charging from spiking demand
- Billing and access-control options
- Protection and cabling for the charging load
- Integration with on-site solar and storage
Technology & standards
Technology
- AC and DC charging hardware matched to vehicle types and dwell times
- Dynamic load management across all chargers on a site
- Access control and billing options for fleets and shared sites
Standards
- Charger and connector choices checked against the vehicles you operate
- Equipment specified to recognised IEC product standards
- Electrical design reviewed against the site’s connection capacity
Deliverables
- Charging needs and site capacity summary
- Engineering design pack
- Commercial proposal
- Commissioning report and as-built documents
- Energy and usage reporting where monitoring is included
Smart Energy & Remote Analytics
You cannot manage what you cannot see.
Most sites know their monthly bill but not what drives it. Without metered, time-stamped data, savings cannot be proven, faults go unnoticed and problems surface as invoices.
RGE engineering approach
We design measurement in from day one: the right meters at the right points, data collected securely, and dashboards that answer the questions an energy manager actually asks. Alarms catch faults early, and monthly reports tie performance back to the design.
Scope
- Metering at the points that matter
- Dashboards and alarms
- Performance ratio and yield reporting
- Monthly performance reports
- Clear data ownership terms
Technology & standards
Technology
- Meters and data loggers selected per site
- Secure cloud dashboards
- Alarm rules for underperformance, faults and lost communication
Standards
- Data ownership and access terms agreed in writing
- Measurement points documented on the single-line diagram
- Reporting methods explained so results can be checked
Deliverables
- Monitoring design and metering schedule
- Live dashboard access
- Alarm and notification set-up
- Monthly performance report
Operations & Maintenance
A system is only as good as its next inspection.
Dust, heat, loose connections and ageing components quietly erode output. Without a schedule and a record, small faults compound and the system drifts away from its design performance.
RGE engineering approach
We maintain to the design, not to the calendar alone. Inspection routines and cleaning are scheduled from the system’s design and site conditions, performance data tells us when to step in early, and every visit is recorded.
Scope
- Preventive maintenance schedules
- Cleaning and thermography
- Inverter and battery servicing
- Corrective maintenance and fault response
- Defined response times and performance reporting
Technology & standards
Technology
- Thermal imaging for early fault detection
- Remote monitoring data used to target site visits
- Maintenance records kept for every system
Standards
- Work carried out under RGE’s HSE procedures
- Service reports provided to the client after each visit
- Response times agreed in the service terms
Deliverables
- Maintenance plan and schedule
- Service report after each visit
- Monthly performance report
- Updated as-built documents when the system changes
Engineering approach
How every system is designed, checked and handed over.
Design method
Load analysis, yield modelling and single-line design come first, followed by protection design. Design review gates, inspection and test plans, commissioning checklists and as-built handover keep quality visible at every stage.
Standards followed
We follow the regulatory route for each project: EPRA licensing, Kenya Power grid-connection requirements and the permits that apply to the site. Equipment is specified to recognised IEC product standards.
Tools used
Modelling, design and monitoring tools are chosen per project and named in the engineering design pack, so you can see exactly what was used and why.
